the National Anthem

the National Anthem

Last Saturday I had the honor of singing the National Anthem for Meals on Wheels Montgomery County’s (@mealsonwheelsmc) Miles for Meals fun run, which was held at B-52 Brewery in Conroe. It was good to see that Kevin Baker Real Estate Team was one of the main sponsors, and pretty neat that Kevin (#300) ended up winning the race!

I couldn’t begin to count how many times I’ve sung it over the years in some sort of ensemble. However, this was the first time I had ever performed it as a soloist.

I think it went pretty well–I didn’t mess up any of the lyrics! 😂

In all seriousness, I gained an enlightened perspective on how difficult it is to sing and stay in tune throughout while singing it a cappella.

In the weeks (& days) leading up to this performance, I prepared by recording myself sing it and, in some circumstances, forcing myself to listen to the recording intently.

It definitely feels good to hear it was well received from all who were there, and certainly have a newfound respect for singers who knock it out of the park. Cheers to many more! 🍻
